Senior Quantity Surveyor
Our client mining company looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor in West Africa
Applicants must have 10 years experience preferably with some mining construction project related experience
Quantity Surveying, LLB or equivalent qualification
Producing contract/tender documentation, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, project financial monitoring and control, measuring of quantities and issuing of payment certificates for large, multi-million dollar infrastructure and D&O projects
Contract Documentation: Prepare full tender and contract documents and compile all specifications for applicable works ensuring that all documents accurately capture the nature, size and scope of the project Measure quantities from drawings, designs and on site to prepare accurate BOQs and cost estimates for heavy earthworks and mine rehabilitation Conducting pre-feasibility studies and community engagement Conduct feasibility analysis and project scoping - including cost planning, value engineering, value management, cost benefit analysis and life-cycle costing Provide coaching and guidance to less experienced staff, junior quantity surveyors and interns to increase the company’s technical competence Construction Supervision: Conduct on-site payment certificate measurements and issue contractor’s interim payment certificates Provide cost related technical oversite to Resident Engineers Address any on-site cost variations and issue Variation Orders Attend Progress Meetings and arrange and facilitate technical/coordination meetings Project Coordination: Prepare monthly financial reports and cash-flow projections and be responsible for project cost/quantities tracking Assist Project Manager in compiling quarterly reports for submission to DMR Stakeholder Management: Interact with key stakeholders to understand, anticipate and manage their expectations Manage relations between the contractors and mining communities, ensuring that potential areas are managed or escalated to the client accordingly SHEQ management: Ensure that effective SHEQ procedures are in place so that contractors and workers operate in a safe and healthy environment Ensure compliance with applicable legislation at all sites including Mine Health and Safety Act
Professional qualifications and chartered status preferred
Experience as an expat within Africa desirable
